Writing Poetry
To write your own poem, you will need a good understanding of the following techniques. To be sure you understand them, attempt each of the following questions.
Question 1. Define Alliteration and provide an example
Question 2. Define metaphor and provide an example
Question 3. Define onomatopoeia and provide two examples in a single line
Question 4. Describe what tone is using a poem you have studied in class (Dulce Et Decorum Est)
Question 5. Define Personification and provide an example using a common object
Question 6. Define Simile and provide an example in a single line
Question 7. Create a four line poem using the following: a simile, a metaphor and have at least two of your lines rhyming.
